NAD+ IV Therapy explained
NAD+ intravenous therapy is an infusion of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide - a molecule every cell uses to move energy around, and which declines with age in human tissue - delivered by drip over anything from one to four hours. Clinics offer it singly or as a course.
The reasoning behind it is straightforward and the evidence behind it is thin, and it is worth being clear which is which. That cellular levels fall with age is well established. That raising them by infusion changes how a person feels, functions or ages is not: the human trial literature is very small, and our own review of it is linked on this page.
The infusion is slow for a practical reason. Pushed quickly, NAD+ commonly causes chest tightness, nausea, cramping and a general feeling of pressure, which is why clinics titrate the rate down until it is tolerable. Those effects stop when the drip is slowed or stopped.
Oral precursors - the supplement forms sold as NMN and NR - are frequently discussed alongside it. They are a different intervention with a different, though also limited, evidence base, and no clinic can honestly claim that an infusion is simply a stronger version of a capsule.
What it costs
From this directory
Of the 32 priced clinics listing this service, 2 are in the entry band ($), 1 in the mid band ($$), 28 in the upper band ($$$) and 1 in the top band ($$$$). 8 further listings do not publish enough to place. 2 of the 40 require a membership rather than selling services one at a time; the rest can be booked individually.
Dose and time drive the price. A longer infusion at a higher dose occupies a chair and a nurse for most of a morning, and that is what the invoice reflects.
Clinics almost always price a course below the single-session rate, which is a commercial decision rather than a clinical one - there is no established protocol saying a course of ten works better than one.
Whether a physician assesses you before the first infusion, and whether observation is included, separates clinical settings from wellness settings at similar advertised prices.
No insurer covers this as a wellness treatment.
Who it suits, and who it does not
Clinics market it to people with fatigue, people recovering from heavy training or travel, and people in structured longevity programmes. What can be said honestly is that people report feeling different afterwards, and that this has not been separated from placebo in trials of any size.
Anyone expecting a demonstrated anti-ageing effect should read the evidence review linked on this page first. The gap between the marketing and the published human data is the largest of any service in this directory.
It is an intravenous procedure, so it belongs in a setting with a clinician who has assessed you, a plan for a reaction, and a record of what was given. That matters more here than the brand of the drip.
Questions to ask before you book
The answers separate clinics far more reliably than the service list on their website does.
- What dose am I receiving, over how long, and who decided that
- Does a physician assess me before the first infusion, and are they on site during it
- What are the common effects during the drip, and what do you do if I get them
- What exactly is in the bag besides NAD+
- What evidence do you rely on for the benefit you are describing
- Is there any pressure to buy a course, and what happens to unused sessions

NAD+ IV Therapy: common questions
Does NAD+ IV therapy work?
The honest answer is that the human evidence is very limited, and the confident claims made for it are not supported by trials of any size. Our review of what has actually been published is linked on this page.
How long does an NAD+ infusion take?
Between one and four hours, depending on dose. It cannot be rushed, because infusing quickly causes chest tightness, nausea and cramping in most people.
What does NAD+ IV therapy feel like?
Most people describe pressure in the chest, warmth, nausea or abdominal cramping if the drip runs too fast, easing as soon as the rate is reduced. Clinics adjust the rate to keep it tolerable.
Is NAD+ IV therapy safe?
The immediate effects during infusion are well described and settle when the rate is slowed. What is not established is the safety of repeated high-dose courses over time, because that has not been studied. Any intravenous treatment should be given where a clinician has assessed you first.
Is an NAD+ infusion better than NMN or NR capsules?
They are different interventions, not different strengths of the same one, and neither has a strong human evidence base. No clinic is in a position to claim one outperforms the other on published data.
