Healthy Aging Medical Center Vienna is a private practice at Mahlerstrasse 7, Top 34, in the 1st district. Dr Karin Stengg, a trauma surgery and orthopaedics specialist who also holds a medical osteopathy qualification, is named on the site as its founder and medical director.

Genetic testing is where the programme starts, and the panels differ mainly in how many gene variants they read:

• Healthy Aging Essentials, over 80 variants, covering stress handling, immune and inflammatory tendency, skin, heart, metabolic and bone risk, and weight
• Individual Health Control, over 60 variants, and Individual Sport Control, over 20, which includes a genetic estimate of maximum oxygen uptake, the most oxygen your body can use while exercising hard
• Individual Weight Control, 8 variants, plus a gut microbiome test read from a stool sample

Biological age here is estimated from telomere length in a saliva sample. Telomeres are the protective caps on the ends of chromosomes, and they shorten as people get older. Results come back from an outside laboratory as a booklet or a PDF the doctor talks through.

Six check-up packages are listed, among them one for stress, one for the menopause and a Manager Check Up sold to employers.

Hormone therapy around the menopause and for men is offered, and that is a prescription decision made with a doctor. So are injections of plasma prepared from the patient's own blood, which the practice calls ACP and describes as three to five shots a week apart for tendon, joint and disc complaints. The service grid calls this section Stemcells and ACP, but the page behind it describes only the own-blood plasma injections, so ask what is actually on offer. Oxygen comes two ways: alternating low and high oxygen air through a mask, or a cabin pressurised to 1.3 bar.

No prices are published, though the site does name 50 euros for cancelling less than 24 hours ahead. The practice opens Tuesday to Thursday, with Friday by arrangement.
