Avita MD - Los Gatos

Avita MD is a physician-owned primary care practice with three Bay Area clinics, in Los Altos, Mountain View and Los Gatos, and longevity medicine is one service among many. The Los Gatos clinic is at 15100 Los Gatos Blvd, Suite 4, open weekdays 8.30am to 5.30pm with a lunch break from 12.30 to 1.30.

The practice says it accepts Medicare, most major PPO plans and HMO plans. It lists 13 providers and same-day or next-day appointments. Prices are not published.

A first longevity visit is a long health history plus a blood panel of more than 60 markers, which Avita MD treats as a baseline and likens to its executive wellness exam. The panel covers:

• metabolic markers including fasting insulin and HbA1c, a reading that reflects average blood sugar over roughly three months
• low-grade inflammation, read from hs-CRP, a blood test for inflammation, and homocysteine, an amino acid tied to heart risk
• cholesterol in more detail than a standard panel, including lipoprotein(a), which the practice says standard panels miss
• hormones, nutrient levels and organ function

Genetic and epigenetic testing runs through an outside company, 3x4 Genetics; epigenetic means the chemical marks that sit on DNA and shift with age and lifestyle.

Blood draws and an ECG, a tracing of the heart's rhythm, are the only tests done on site. Scans are referred out through a partner network when a doctor judges they are needed.

Repeat labs are booked every six months, with a fuller review once a year. Where results support it, the practice offers hormone therapy including testosterone, and drips of vitamins or NAD+, short for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme given into a vein. Hormones are prescription decisions made with a doctor.
